Monica is a native of Panama, and came to the U.S. as a child when she was 9 years old. In 2009, she and her mother finally settled in Davidson County where she has resided since. Since she was a child, she had an affinity for art, often making drawings for her family and friends. During high school, she joined the Acrylix Art Club at Davidson-Davie County Community College where she gained an appreciation for painting with acrylic. While in this club, her love for art grew and led her to share her art in several of their silent art auctions.
After meeting her husband, Zach, Monica found another passion she never expected -- in farming! In 2021, she and her husband started Rierson Farms NC with the dream of helping their community gain access to fresh produce and natural products at an affordable price. Farm life has greatly influenced her art in recent years. She now finds inspiration in nature, with farm animals, flowers, vegetable plants, and farm scenery being the main subjects of her sketches and paintings.
